The long-awaited trailer for Ruben Fleischer’s Zombieland: Double Tap has arrived and it looks like it might’ve been worth the wait.
Double Tap follows on from the events of 2009’s cult hit Zombieland and sees the makeshift family of Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Tallahasse (Woody Harrelson), Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) arrive in Washington DC, where they hole up in the White House and meet more zany survivors of the zombie apocalypse.
Some of the new cast to join the fray include Zoey Deutch, Rosario Dawson, Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch.
The trailer for the film features some stylised zombie-killing action along with some hilarious quips from its principal and supporting cast.
All in all, Double Tap looks like a great old time and it should have fans of the first film excited.
Fleischer’s Zombieland was a hit with audiences when it first released and fans have been clamouring for a sequel ever since.
Nine years later and we finally have it, and it shouldn’t disappoint.
Zombie movies have been done to death, though there’s always a market for it.
This year also sees the arrival of another irreverent zombie comedy in the form of Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die, so it seems that zombie comedies are as in-demand as ever.
Despite the somewhat tired sub-genre, Zombieland: Double Tap revolves more around its quirky characters than it does its classic movie monsters, so there’s sure to be something in this for everyone.
The film hits cinemas on 11 October 2019.
