It’s Young vs Old in New Family Comedy Film ‘The War with Grandpa’

Robert De Niro feuds with his grandson and friends in the new family comedy film, The War with Grandpa, based on the popular children’s book.

Young Peter (Oakes Fegley) is happy to hear that his grandpa (De Niro) will be moving in with him and his family.

However, when Peter realises that grandpa is moving into his room, he’ll declare war on him in an effort to claim his room back.

Shenanigans ensue as Peter and his friends battle it out against grandpa and his fellow senior citizens.

The War with Grandpa is based on the book of the same name by award-winning American children’s author, Robert Kimmel Smith, and looks like genuine family movie fun.

Alongside the young Fegley and De Niro, the film features a great supporting cast that includes Christopher Walken, Jane Seymour, Uma Thurman, Cheech Marin, and Rob Riggle.

This also isn’t the first time De Niro hasn’t played someone’s funny grandpa in a film, having also starred in Dirty Grandpa (2016) with Zac Efron.

The film is directed by Tim Hill, who recently completed work on The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (2020) and is due for release in cinemas on 18 September 2020.
