Natalie Portman plays an astronaut that returns home from space, somewhat spaced-out in the teaser for the upcoming sci-fi Lucy in the Sky.
The film follows Lucy Cola (Portman), who after a life-changing mission in outer space returns home and begins to lose touch with reality.
The film’s first trailer conveys that message clearly, as we see Portman’s character experience something deeply personal out in the vacuum of space.
Upon her return is where things get interesting, as the world around her begins to feel (and look) surreal to her.
We don’t get much by way of the film’s plot in the trailer, but it looks like there will be a big psychological aspect to the character-driven story.
Whether or not there will be some supernatural elements in the film is still too hard to tell, though it shouldn’t be ruled out.
Lucy in the Sky is directed by Noah Hawley who makes his feature film directorial debut.
That name may be familiar to TV fans, as Hawley is well known for executive producing and writing the popular TV series’ Fargo and Legion.
The director is no stranger to trippy elements in his work and it looks to extend across to this film here also.
Portman was recently seen in the psychological-drama Vox Lux (2018), making her choice to play this role feel like a no-brainer.
Lucy in the Sky co-stars Jon Hamm, Dan Stevens and Zazie Beetz and we can expect to see it in cinemas sometime in 2019.
