Trailer for Violent Sci-Fi Action Film from Leigh Whannell – ‘Upgrade’

Logan Marshall-Green stars in the upcoming ultra-violent sci-fi/horror/action film, Upgrade, directed by Australia’s own Leigh Whannell.

The film follows Marshall-Green’s quadriplegic character Grey, as he’s upgraded with a new form of artificial intelligence chip that restores all of his former functions – as well as turning him into a killing machine.

He then uses his newfound gifts to seek revenge on the men that killed his wife.

Here is another science-fiction premise that may have some actual future plausibility, with a mix of gory violence to spice up the entertainment factor.

Judging by this trailer, Whannell looks to have hit the mark.

While I think the red band trailer below may be revealing too much awesome action already, it does do plenty to get action/sci-fi/horror fans excited.

The film comes from Blumhouse productions, who are on a tear in the industry at the moment, having produced some highly entertaining films like Get Out (2017), Happy Death Day (2017) and The Purge (2013).

Furthermore, the combination of Blumhouse and director Leigh Whannell seems like a winning one.

After co-creating the genre-defining horror film Saw back in 2004 with fellow Australian James Wan, Whannell has gone on to carve out a nice career for himself in Hollywood.

As well as producing most of the follow-up Saw films, Whannell went on to create and write the Insidious (2010) franchise of horror films, which have been super-successful.

Upgrade looks like it will be a lot of fun; a guilty-pleasure viewing experience for fans of ultra-violent movies.

The film hits US cinemas on 1 June 2018.
