‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ Features a Strong Female Lead

three billboards outside ebbing missouri

The new drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri tells the story of desperate mother whose daughter was raped and left for dead; with the police still without answers, she takes matters into her own hands.

The dark drama/comedy stars Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell and is directed by Martin McDonagh.

When Mildred Hayes (Frances McDormand) is not satisfied with the work her local police are doing to help find her daughter’s killer, especially the work of the Chief William Willoughby (Woody Harrelson), she decides to take control of the situation in the only way she can think of.

Mildred erects three billboards outside her local town, each with a message targeted at the police force and calling out Chief Willoughby.

Together the film shows a battle between the two leads and their methods to help bring justice to Mildred’s daughter.

Woody Harrelson seems to shine in these roles and Frances McDormand is in a league of her own.

From the trailer you can see that the chemistry between the two actors will hopefully make this dark drama/comedy worth a watch, and it is always uplifting to see powerful female leads given the spotlight.

The movie is being released on 1 January 2018.
