New Red Band Trailer for ‘The Grudge’ is Not for the Faint of Heart

movies not for the faint of heart

You could argue that most horror movies are not for the faint of heart, though this new red band trailer for The Grudge may test even hardened fans.

The Grudge follows the story of a police detective out to solve a gruesome murder in a woman’s home – a home that contains an evil spirit that haunts anyone that dare set foot in it.

This is the second English-language remake of the film, the first being the 2004 edition with Sarah Michelle Gellar in the lead.

That film was remade by its original director, Takashi Shimizu, who gave the world Ju-on: The Grudge in 2002.

Shimizu’s original received mostly mixed reviews but has gone on to become a cult classic on the horror circuit.

His English-language version was dealt the same fate and still managed to spawn a few sequels.

There must be a market for this franchise as it’s being remade again in 2020 by director Nicolas Pesce.

This time, under the watchful eye of producer Sam Raimi, as well as a producer on Don’t Breathe (2016) and Evil Dead (2013).

This team-up behind the scenes so far looks to be a fruitful one, as the trailer presents a grounded, horrifying and brutal rendition of this supernatural horror story.

The filmmakers have not shied away from the violence and gore in the upcoming film as you’ll see in the new trailer below (I’ll say it again, it’s not for the faint of heart).

The Grudge stars John Cho, Andrea Riseborough, Betty Gilpin, Demian Bichir, and Lin Shaye.

It arrives in cinemas on 9 January 2020, check out the brutal new trailer below.
