Always looking to outdo himself, Christopher Nolan once again seeks to push cinematic boundaries with his latest film Tenet.
The first trailer for Tenet was super ambiguous in terms of revealing the plot, and while we get a little bit more detail in this new trailer, it’s still hard to get a clear grasp of the film’s concept.
John David Washington plays a government agent-type character who’s tasked with saving preventing a new world war.
He’s armed with a single word, “Tenet”, which seemingly allows him to unlock proverbial doors to guide him on his journey, as well as the capability to bend time to his will.
The time-bending aspect is incomprehensible at this stage, and it’s not certain how his character can manipulate time, and how the process works.
It all looks intriguing though and we can be sure to expect Nolan to get us thinking throughout this film as he aims to push the boundaries on what’s possible from a spectacle film.
There are lots of time-reversal effects and one huge practical set piece that involves crashing a jumbo jet, all of which should make for some awe-inspiring viewing.
This comes as no surprise from the director of The Dark Knight trilogy, who boasts one of the greatest filmmaking resumes’ ever, which includes other thought-provoking sci-fi films such as Inception (2010) and Interstellar (2014).
Nolan is truly one of, if not the greatest working director today, and his new film Tenet looks to deliver the goods to eagerly-awaiting fans.
Washington is joined by an outstanding supporting cast that includes Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh.
It’s currently due for release in cinemas on 17 July 2020.
