Teaser for New Adam Sandler/Chris Rock Comedy – ‘The Week Of’

The Week Of is a new Netflix Original film that reunites comedy legends Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, in what could be a return to form for Sandler’s comedy movie career.

After becoming a household name during his run of successful comedies throughout the 90’s and early 2000’s, Sandler went on to star in a string of poorly received movies.

That hasn’t stopped the actor from getting more work in Hollywood though, on the contrary, he recently signed a multi-picture deal with streaming giant Netflix.

His first few films for them didn’t fare so well however.

The Ridiculous 6 (2015), The Do-Over (2016) and Sandy Wexler (2017) were all poorly received and were mostly unfunny, but his fourth film, The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) (2017) did get a much better reception.

His latest, The Week Of, seems to be a change of pace from the slapstick comedies he’s known for.

Sandler plays the father of the bride to Chris Rock’s father of the groom, as the two of them are required to get along during the final week’s wedding preparations, with humorous results.

The trailer gives us a good look at what type of humour to expect, and it’s an obvious departure from Sandler’s usual style.

There aren’t many laughs to be had in this trailer, though I’m assuming they’re saving the best stuff for the film.

The Week Of could go either way, but it’s certainly an intriguing addition to Adam Sandler’s slate of films.

It’s directed by Robert Smigel and also stars Steve Buscemi.

It hits Netflix on 27 April 2018, check out the teaser trailer below.
