‘Suicide Squad’ Crosses $500 Million Worldwide

worldwide

The worldwide figure to date ain’t bad for a movie that’s been universally panned by critics, but will it hold up long enough to meet studio expectations?

Suicide Squad has won the top spot at the box office for the third weekend in a row, beating out the likes of  Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice when compared to their eleven, twelve and thirteen day grosses.

It currently ranks twenty-first amongst all comic-book movie films at the domestic U.S. box office, which is a decent feat for a movie that didn’t receive much love amongst critics.

It’s good to see that the fans have not been affected by the negative feedback and are going out in droves to see it.

The real test will be to see how long its streak runs, as it’s expected to top out around the $600 million (USD) mark worldwide.

It may not be a big profit considering its $175 million budget, but it also wasn’t as big a tentpole film for the studio when you compare the characters in the film to say, Superman and Batman.

Either way it will be a decent run for the film and it should hopefully be enough to warrant a Joker/Harley Quinn spinoff film down the line.
