The first teaser trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story has finally dropped, an unprecedented 3 months shy of release, and thankfully it doesn’t disappoint.
In an age where movie marketing begins around 12 months before a film is released, it’s unheard of for a film, especially a massive one like this to have its marketing campaign begin a mere 3 months before its release.
Sure, the film’s recent production problems wouldn’t have helped, and may even be a cause of concern for some.
However, the newly released first teaser trailer for Solo should quash any of those fears.
The film follows the story of the young Han Solo, originally made famous by Harrison Ford in the Star Wars universe.
We’ll get to see how he came to meet his co-pilot and friend Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), as well as rival/friend Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover).
Solo will be played by Alden Ehrenreich, and the verdict is still out as to whether he can capture the same charm that only Harrison Ford could apply to the character, though we’ll know soon enough.
The rest of the cast includes Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany and Woody Harrelson, and judging by the first teaser below, the film looks to feature everything Star Wars fans have come to expect from movies set in the beloved universe.
Solo continues the standalone movie series that Disney is developing for the franchise, after the successful Rogue One released in 2016.
The film is directed by veteran filmmaker Ron Howard and hits cinemas on 24 May 2018 in Australia.
