Sandra Bullock and Team Attempt an Impossible Heist in ‘Ocean’s 8’ Trailer

Sandra Bullock leads a team of all-female specialist thieves in this Ocean’s 11 spinoff, as they attempt to pull off the heist of the century.

The heist in question – stealing $150 million worth of diamonds.

Diamonds worn around the neck of the world famous actress Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway), during the high profile Met Gala event in New York.

Anyone familiar with the Ocean’s series of films will recognise the basic premise –  a seemingly impossible heist made possible with the meeting of a diverse team of special crooks, and one spectacular plan.

This formula has worked well for all of the Ocean’s films to date, so we know what to expect there.

So what will this film bring that the others before it haven’t?

Aside from the all-female cast, not much else judging by the official main trailer below.

It’s hard to get excited for a film that we’ve essentially seen multiple times before, however the cast of talent here should be enough of a draw.

Bullock is joined by Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter – a team of actresses that easily rival any of the ensembles we’ve seen in the past Ocean’s films.

So there’s that, as well as the promising director on board, in the form of writer/director Gary Ross, who’s past writing/directing credits include Pleasantville (1998), Seabiscuit (2003), The Hunger Games (2012), and Free State of Jones (2016).

A good heist movie always makes for some entertaining viewing and we won’t have to wait long to find out, as Ocean’s 8 hit cinemas on 7 June 2018.
