Nicole Kidman proves why she is one of the all-time Hollywood greats in the new trailer for the thriller film, Destroyer.
Kidman plays Erin Bell, an LAPD detective who, as a young officer went undercover in a criminal gang that ended with tragic results.
Years later, members from the gang resurface, forcing Bell to come to terms with her past.
The trailer for Destroyer is heavy.
It looks like a film that can weigh on a person’s soul, much like the way it does on its lead character’s, played by a withered-looking Nicole Kidman.
Kidman looks unrecognisable in this film, in one of her few non-glamorous roles.
She does look to be in top form performance-wise though, and Destroyer could end up being a highlight in her storied career.
The film is directed by Karyn Kusama, who directed the deeply disturbing, yet brilliant indie film The Invitation (2015), and the awesome horror film Jennifer’s Body (2009).
Destroyer also features an outstanding supporting cast that includes Toby Kebbell, Tatiana Maslany, Scoot McNairy, Bradley Whitford and Sebastian Stan.
It’s a great cast when you consider the film was shot on an ultra-low budget of only $9 million USD (estimated).
That says a lot about what these high profile actors must have thought about the potential of the script.
Though Destroyer looks like it ticks a lot of boxes, it’s also a film that will likely not appeal to everyone.

It’s due out in cinemas on 25 December 2018.
