The cast and crew of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again talk about pop superstar Cher’s addition to the outstanding ensemble cast of the musical film.
The sequel to 2008’s hit film Mamma Mia follows the now pregnant and soon-to-be-young mum Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), as she learns about her mother’s past.
Meryl Streep reprises her role as Sophie’s mother Donna, and as the film backtracks through time to show Donna’s past, she’s also played by Lily James.
Pop superstar Cher comes into the mix as Sophie’s grandmother (Donna’s mother), further expanding the film’s generational family themes.
To those unfamiliar, the Mamma Mia films are all set to the music of one of the biggest pop groups of all time in ABBA.
ABBA’s range of music features prominently in this sequel as expected, and you can see a glimpse of Cher singing the hit song Fernando in the video below.
The film is directed by Ol Parker and features a great cast, that along Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep and Cher includes Christine Baranski, Colin Firth, Dominic Cooper, Julie Walters, Lily James, Pierce Brosnan and Stellan Skarsgård.
