‘Locked Down’ Sees a Diamond Heist Attempt in the Middle of a Lockdown

Featuring an all-star cast, Locked Down follows a couple’s brazen diamond heist attempt in the middle of a Covid lockdown.

Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor play Linda and Paxton, a couple locked down in their apartment in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic who decide to steal a diamond from the luxurious Harrods department store.

It seems like the tension between them has risen since they’ve been forced to spend every waking minute together, so the opportunity to partake in a robbery is a welcome one.

Linda knows Harrods inside and out, putting her in a unique position to run the scheme.

Locked Down feels like a romantic comedy crossed with a heist film set during a time that virtually anyone on Earth can relate to, and it seems to work.

The film is shot with a combination of traditional narrative framing and video conference footage, which fits right in with the modern real-world landscape.

Doug Liman directs an outstanding cast that alongside Hathaway and Ejiofor includes Stephen Merchant, Mindy Kaling, Ben Stiller, and Ben Kingsley.

Liman is known for films like the Tom Cruise-starring American Made (2017) and Edge of Tomorrow (2014), as well as Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005), and The Bourne Identity (2002).

He’s also behind the new young-adult film Chaos Walking starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley, which is also due for release in early 2021.

Check out Locked Down on HBO Max from 14 January 2021.
