‘Kubo and the Two Strings’ – Trailer

A 4th trailer for the upcoming stop-motion animated film Kubo and the Two Strings has been released and it looks stunning.

It does not look like stop-motion at all unless you look closer and this looks like it will set a new standard for feature length stop-motion animated films.

The studio behind Kubo, Laika, have a great track record of developing visually stunning films including Coraline, Paranorman and The Boxtrolls, all which earned Oscar nominations.

Kubo and the Two Strings is based in feudal Japan and follows the lead character Kubo and his friends on a mythical journey to find a legendary suit of samurai armour in order to stop an evil spirit.

It’s a bit of a standard plot for a kids animation, kind of like Kung Fu Panda 3, but based in Japan rather than China.

The animation in this stands out significantly though so it’s definitely worth a look.

The film is out on 18 August 2016 in Australian cinemas and features the voice acting talents of Matthew McConaughey, Charlize Theron, Rooney Mara, Ralph Fiennes and Art Parkinson.

IMDB Synopsis:

Kubo lives a quiet, normal life in a small shoreside village until a spirit from the past turns his life upside down by re-igniting an age-old vendetta. This causes all sorts of havoc as gods and monsters chase Kubo who, in order to survive, must locate a magical suit of armour once worn by his late father, a legendary Samurai warrior.
