Directed by Ridley Scott, House of Gucci follows the story of the luxury fashion label and the undoing of the family behind it.
Based on a true story that spans three decades, House of Gucci outlines the dark history behind the Gucci family, one that ultimately leads to murder.
The story is a tale of love, betrayal, vengeance, decadence, death, and the lengths people will go to for power.
This biographical film is based on the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden and is directed by Ridley Scott, who seems the perfect fit for it.
The film has a similar feel to Scott’s All the Money in the World (2017), which also told a grim story about an ultra-wealthy family.
House of Gucci looks very compelling based on its first trailer and will especially appeal to true crime movie pundits.
One of the film’s biggest highlights is its impeccable casting, featuring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Irons, Al Pacino, and Jared Leto, looking unrecognisable as he does.
It’s one of the better casts compiled for a Ridley Scott film, and the subject matter and production value should bring out their best.
The verdict is still out on their Italian-English accents, however.
House of Gucci releases on 25 November 2021.
