Grass Has Never Been More Terrifying than in New Film ‘In the Tall Grass’

in the tall grass movie

In the Tall Grass is the latest horror adaptation attached to Stephen King, as well as his son, author Joe Hill.

The new Netflix exclusive is based on the novella of the same name, which was originally published in two parts in Esquire magazine back in 2012.

In the Tall Grass is set in Kansas and follows a brother and sister that head into a vast field of grass after hearing a boy’s cry for help from somewhere within.

They’ll soon become lost and discover that there may be no way out of the field, in turn having to come to grips with their own sanity as well some other, more sinister elements.

You wouldn’t think there’s anything scary about grass right?

That’s what I thought until I saw the trailer.

The film plays heavily upon people’s inner-fears like claustrophobia and the dreadful feeling of being lost.

And in the classic Stephen King style, some ghosts and premonitions and horrific visuals are thrown in for good measure, making for some terrifying viewing.

Stephen King’s work has been going through a prolific phase of adaptations these past few years and in 2019 we’ve had Pet Sematary and It: Chapter Two already.

Alongside In the Tall Grass we’ll also be seeing The Shining (1980) sequel, Doctor Sleep hitting theatres soon.

The film is directed by Cube (1997) director Vincenzo Natali and features Patrick Wilson amongst a cast of mostly unknowns.

Check it out on Netflix from 4 October 2019.
