The first teaser trailer for the upcoming film based on the popular 90’s TV show Baywatch has been released, starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
Baywatch follows the story of dedicated lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (Johnson) and his reckless new recruit Matt Brody (Efron).
Aside from the comedic antics that take place on the beach, there are some criminal activities going on that the Baywatch team take it upon themselves to solve.
The first teaser trailer features an introduction to the characters, as well as a glimpse into what to expect from the plot.
It’s essentially a film about a group of buff, good looking people doing funny and spectacular things, with an element of a crime caper to justify the film’s existence.
Ok that’s a bit unfair, as the original TV show was pretty much the same and it made for entertaining viewing over its 11 season run that began in 1989.
Dwayne Johnson stars in the lead role originally made famous by David Hasselhoff back in the TV series, with Kelly Rohrbach playing Pamela Anderson’s updated counterpart in the film version.
The film is directed by Seth Gordon of Horrible Bosses (2011) fame, so fans of that movie as well as that style of comedy should get something out of this.
The trailer was decent though the bits of comedy on display were not exactly laugh-out-loud funny, however that could be a good sign if the filmmakers are saving the best laughs for the film.
Baywatch releases on 19 May 2017 in the USA, check out the first teaser trailer below.
