All Female ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ Spinoff Confirmed and Cast

Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett lead the way in the Ocean’s Eleven spinoff film, Ocean’s Eight, directed by The Hunger Games helmer, Gary Ross.

The latest round of casting rumours suggest Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Miny Kaling and Awkwafina (Nora Lum) are all but near confirmed to join the cast, finalising seven out of the eight cast members.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros has confirmed that the film is scheduled to start production in October.

Ocean’s Eight is a spinoff film to the popular Ocean’s Eleven franchise, this time led by an all-female cast.

The film will be directed by Gary Ross, director of The Hunger Games and the more recent, Free State of Jones.

It will be produced by Steven Soderbergh, who directed 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven.

That film was an awesome heist-caper remake of the classic 1960’s film of the same name, however its sequels, Ocean’s Twelve and Thirteen were pretty mediocre.

This new version looks like it will have a pretty decent cast if it’s all true, however there is still one spot left, with the latest rumours seeing Jennifer Lawrence and Elizabeth Banks in talks to join.

With the recent Ghostbusters reboot featuring an all-female cast, I wonder if this will become a trend in Hollywood now, to remake past all-male casted films with women in their place.

It’s likely probable seeing that all we seem to be getting these days is reboots, so it’s a welcome change considering we’ll be getting it anyway.

What do you think of the potential lineup for this film?
