Michael B. Jordan Plays a Lawyer Out for Fair Justice in ‘Just Mercy’

fair justice movies

Michael B. Jordan plays a hot-shot lawyer who’s seeking fair justice for a wrongfully convicted felon in the emotional movie, Just Mercy.

Jordan plays Bryan Stevenson, a world-renowned civil rights defence attorney who fights for fair justice for a death row prisoner (played by Jamie Foxx) that appears to have been wrongfully accused and convicted.

The film is based on a true story and navigates around the political and racial motivations surrounding the criminal justice system in Alabama.

It’s a classic story of fighting for justice with the odds impossibly stacked against our protagonists, and Jordan and Foxx look like they’re in career-best form here.

The trailer sets a pure dramatic tone for the film, giving us a look at the powerhouse performances of its two leads.

Films like these always hit a nerve with audiences, especially when we see a case of wrongdoing by the justice system.

It’s always infuriating seeing an innocent person be convicted of a crime and with it comes the thought of knowing their life has been ruined because of it.

Brie Larson also features, and the film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who’s known for directing the well-received Short Term 12 (2013).

See it in cinemas from 10 January 2020.
