Disney and Pixar’s latest sees a couple of elves go on a journey to discover magic and bring their father back to life for a day in Onward.
The world in Onward used to be a magical place, until with time, it became gentrified.
Nowadays, its creature-folk residents live normal lives, the type you and I do.
Brothers Ian and Barley (Tom Holland and Chris Pratt) are two young elves who are gifted a magic staff from their mother on behalf of their late father as a gift for becoming 16+ years old.
The staff contains a spell that will bring their father back for a day, though they can only manage to bring his lower half back.
They then set on an adventure with half their father in tow, with the aim to figure out how to get the rest of him back before time runs out.
The Disney/Pixar charm is in full effect on this one as is to be expected.
It’s these films’ underlying themes that always pull on the heartstrings and keep viewers coming back, and it’s no different with Onward.
Add to that some stunning animation, intriguing and relatable characters and a humorous script, and the powerhouse studio is guaranteed another hit.
Onward is brought to us by the team that did Toy Story 4 (2019) and The Incredibles (2004) and it releases on 2 April 2020.
It also features the voice talents of Octavia Spencer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and John Ratzenberger.
