Cool New Photo from Set of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Tom Holland, the star of the upcoming film Spider-Man: Homecoming took to Instagram to post a cool photo from the set of the film.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is the next film in line to feature one of Marvel’s most iconic characters, this time focusing on a high-school aged version of Peter Parker and his alter-ego, Spider-Man.

The film is a co-production between Sony and Marvel, after the two finally agreed to work together, following the less-than-stellar last two Spider-Man films produced solely by Sony.

This means that Marvel will get to add their own stylistic touches to the film, but also feature some the characters they have the exclusive rights to, such as Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr., who’s set to feature in this film as well.

The rumour is that the film will have multiple villains, with  Michael Keaton touted to play Vulture, a popular villain in the Spider-Man universe, but one that we haven’t seen on film yet – and what an excellent bonus in nabbing Keaton for the role.

The film is directed by Jon Watts, who is a relative newcomer to the scene, having only directed the 2014 horror flick Clown and the 2015 crime-drama Cop Car, which is definitely worth a look.

It’s good to see up-and-coming directors given the opportunity to direct massive tentpole films for major studios, though there is always a risk in hiring them, given the magnitude of the production.

Nevertheless, Watts must have presented an excellent case for himself to land the role, and we all know Marvel will likely guide him in the right direction when it comes to the tone and style of the film.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is due for release for the American summer blockbuster period in July 2017 and will surely be a smash-hit financially.

We’ve already seen Holland feature as the character in this year’s Captain America: Civil War, so we know he can do the part justice, now we’re just hoping the filmmakers get the story right.

Check out the cool photo Holland posted on the set of the film recently below.
