This intriguing Netflix exclusive dystopian sci-fi film stars Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried and is directed by Andrew Niccol.
Policing has become easy in a world where everyone’s lives are logged and recorded, with the lack of privacy having eradicated crime altogether.
Things change however when a girl (Amanda Seyfried) that’s completely off the grid appears, disrupting the status quo.
A disruption that could potentially re-introduce crime back into society.
It’s a unique premise that borrows from several sci-fi sub-genres, and one that’s not too far from even becoming a reality one day.
With social media and tech companies already tracking our every move, and governments having more access than ever to people’s lives, the scenario in Anon seems like the logical next step.
A world without crime sounds like a good thing, but at what cost?
This is the theme Anon will attempt to tackle when it releases exclusively on Netflix on 4 May 2018.
The film is directed by Andrew Niccol, who’s past films include the cult sci-fi classic Gattaca (1997), Lord of War (2005) and more recently, the fantastic Ethan Hake starring film Good Kill (2014).
The film is another step in the right direction for Netflix, as they continue to secure some big stars to front their original productions.
The recent film Annihilation (2018) was a perfect example of the excellent quality Netflix can produce, so let’s hope they can keep the trend up with Anon.
