Check out the new trailer for Atomic Blonde, the new action film starring Charlize Theron as a badass MI6 agent out to settle a score.
Theron plays Lorraine Broughton, an MI6 agent sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent and recover a missing list of double agents.
The film’s new trailer highlights all the action we can expect to see in this film, and there’s plenty of it.
Atomic Blonde is directed by David Leitch, who was an uncredited co-director of the fan-favourite action film John Wick (2014), which starred Keanu Reeves.
It’s no surprise to me then that this film looks just like another John Wick, but in heels.
Aside from the feeling that the style’s been done before (and recently), I guess there’s nothing wrong with that, as there’s always room for more entertaining action films starring A-list actors.
Joining Theron is a stellar lineup of actors that include James McAvoy, John Goodman, Sofia Boutella, Toby Jones and Eddie Marsan.
Charlize Theron was excellent in an action-heroine type role in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, and she carries over those attributes to this film, though to a much larger extent it seems.
Atomic Blonde hits Australian cinemas on 3 August 2017.
