James Wan’s ‘Aquaman’ to Film in Australia

australia

Good news for the local industry with word on the street that James Wan’s Aquaman will be shooting in Australia some time next year.

Aquaman is the DC Comics fictional character that will be making his debut in the upcoming Zack Snyder film, Justice League in 2017.

Following that, the character played by Jason Momoa will get his own film that will be directed by none other than Australia’s own king-of-horror James Wan.

Wan has catapulted to the top of Hollywood with his work in the horror genre, with films like the Saw series, as well as the Insidious and The Conjuring films.

It’s always great to see an Aussie right up there with the best of them in Hollywood, so it’s good to know that an Aussie will be directing a massive blockbuster film, and we’ll get some industry-love when the film comes here to shoot.

The film is set to partially shoot on the Gold Coast as well as Britain’s Leavesden Studios at some stage next year, likely during the Australian summer.

Aquaman is due out for release some time in 2018 and it stars Jason Momoa in the lead, along with Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe and Michael K. Williams.
