The year of Nicolas Cage spookiness continues with the first trailer for ‘Between Worlds’ landing recently.
Between Worlds is written & directed by Maria Pulera and follows widower/bereaved father Joe’s (Cage) dealings with a spiritual medium.
What then follows is a supernatural-thriller involving body possession of a young hospitalised woman played by Australian actress Penelope Mitchell (whose credits include a role in the TV series The Vampire Diaries & the soon to be released 2019 reboot of Hellboy).
Other members of the cast include Franka Potente (seen in 2016’s The Conjuring 2 & the Jason Bourne film series) & actress-model-blogger Lydia Hearst.
The trailer, which is reminiscent in vibe to 2018’s Hereditary, features an eerie score that is sure to put shivers down spines.
The year has already been a promising one for the Academy Award-winning Cage, who after a highly ridiculed & meme-worthy foray into questionable roles has received positive attention for his turn in the action-horror film Mandy.
Early reviews of the film (which has done the festival circuit including Cannes & Fantastic Fest) have been promising, with Cage’s brand of zaniness proving to be a great fit within the horror genre.
No theatrical release date is available as yet for Between Worlds.
