Another Creepy Trailer for ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ Hits

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark trailer

The new trailer for the Guillermo del Toro-produced Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark introduces an original monster known as The Jangly Man.

Based on the children’s short horror story series of the ’80s and ’90s, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark follows a group of teens in a small town that discover a book filled with horror stories.

Things turn frightening when the stories begin to write themselves and the monsters within them come to life.

The stories and monsters will force the teens to confront their worst fears while trying to stay alive.

Del Toro’s love of the macabre is evident in the production design of this film with director André Øvredal tasked with bringing it all to life.

There are some awesome practical effects here which add to the terrifying look of these new monsters.

Introduced here for the first time in the Scary Stories lore is The Jangly Man, which Del Toro says is a “composite of a few of the Stephen Gammell illustrations from the original Scary Stories books”.

The film’s monsters, including the new Jangly Man (see image below) all look terrifying and really are the stuff nightmares are made of.

However, Scary Stories looks to be relatively kid-friendly, so don’t go expecting any heavy violence or gore in this one.

It’s due for release on 26 September 2019 (in Aus).
