A Prayer Before Dawn is an action-drama set in a notorious Thai prison, that follows the true story of Billy Moore (Joe Cole) as he tries to survive the harsh environment he’s found himself in.
Billy Moore has hit rock bottom; a drug user that gets busted with drugs in Thailand and is subsequently locked up.
His only chance at redemption; becoming a prison Muay Thai champion of course.
A Prayer Before Dawn is based on a true story and judging by its trailer, it looks like it will be a heavily dramatic, gritty and violent film.
The film looks to capture the harsh reality of being a foreigner locked up in a dangerous Thai prison, where the only option may be to fight-or-die in some circumstances.
The trailer doesn’t give away much else in terms of the plot, but it does appear to have a deeper storyline based on some quick cuts we can see in it.
It’s directed by Frenchman Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire and stars Joe Cole, Panya Yimmumphai and veteran Thai actor Vithaya Pansringarm.
The film recently screened at MIFF, and unfortunately there doesn’t appear to be a release date for wider distribution, however it’s one to take note of.
