Who would have guessed a franchise could contain this much wit?
According to multiple anonymous sources through Variety, Justin Kroll broke the news that the star of HBO’s Game of Thrones, Peter Dinklage, is a top star name being eyed for a key role in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, which is set to start production January 23rd, and film the as-yet untitled sequel back-to-back.
The possibility of the casting holds some weight since Dinklage’s production work for season 7 of Game of Thrones supposedly wrapped early, as HBO continue to film other cast members in Iceland through February for weather priorities. This is also not the first time Dinklage has taken a key Marvel role, with Fox’s X-Men Days of Future Past as Bolivar Trask.
Marvel made no effort to give comment as of yet, however silence is the standard procedure regarding casting rumours. Such was the case with Emily Blunt and Mission Impossible’s Rebecca Ferguson with Captain Marvel last year and Joaquin Phoenix for Doctor Strange, however with the schedule this close, updates may come forward soon. His role may perhaps be similar to Martin Freeman’s Everett K. Ross in last year’s Civil War, which fans rightfully called too little use of such a talent.
Dinklage’s schedule appears open with no recorded films in pre-production with Infinity War expected to hit cinemas May 4, 2018.
