‘The Peanut Butter Falcon’ Trailer – A Modern Mark Twain Style Adventure

The Peanut Butter Falcon trailer

After making a splash with the Transformers (2007-) franchise and showing glimpses of his incredible talent in a number of big-budget productions, the enigmatic Shia LaBeouf appears to finally be coming into his own as an actor with the upcoming The Peanut Butter Falcon.

Eschewing the big-budget hits for smaller indie flicks such as the fab American Honey (2016) and Honey Boy (2019), LaBeouf appears at his subtle best in the new film The Peanut Butter Falcon.

Written and directed by Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz (the creators behind the 2014 short film The Moped Diaries), the film centres on Zak (newcomer Zack Gottsagen), a young man suffering from Down syndrome who flees the nursing home he lives at to attend a wrestling school run by his favourite wrestler, The Salt Water Redneck (Thomas Haden Church).

On his journey, Zak meets criminal on the run, Tyler (LaBeouf), and the two strike up an unlikely friendship.

Dakota Johnson plays Eleanor, a nurse tasked with finding Zak, who gets caught up in the ensuing adventure.

The supporting cast includes some great character actors including John Hawkes, Bruce Dern and Jon Bernthal, along with famous wrestlers Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Mick Foley.

This looks to be a heartwarming indie with a few laughs, featuring standout performances from LaBeouf and Gottsagen.

The Peanut Butter Falcon will be in cinemas from 9 August 2019.
