The team behind the Fast & Furious films have taken the action in their spinoff film Hobbs & Shaw to the next level and it looks like a lot of fun.
Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), the no-nonsense lawman and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), the former criminal outcast/fighting machine must (begrudgingly) join forces to stop a cyber-genetically enhanced villain (Idris Elba) from wreaking havoc on the world.
They’re joined by Shaw’s sister Hattie (Vanessa Kirby), who like her bro has all the tricks of the trade in the ass-kicking business.
That’s about as deep as this film gets it seems, which is perfectly fine considering it exists for pure entertainment value.
The final trailer gives us a sneak peek of the type of action we can expect in the film and it looks like the filmmakers have, expectedly so, taken it to the next level once again.
The characters of Hobbs and Shaw have been around the Fast & Furious franchise for a while now but their rivalry was really only explored in the last film, The Fate of the Furious (2017).
Johnson and Statham share excellent chemistry and their character’s personality types make for some funny conflicts, full of plenty of quips and barbs between the two.
The film is directed by David Leitch, whose past films include John Wick (2014, uncredited), Atomic Blonde (2017) and Deadpool 2 (2018); all action-packed films, so we can rest assured the man knows what he’s doing on that front.
Check out the awesome final trailer below before the film hits cinemas on 1 August 2019.
