From the leaders of stop-motion animated films, LAIKA Studios, comes the new film Missing Link starring Hugh Jackman and Zach Galifianakis.

Missing Link sees the legendary Mr. Link (Galifianakis), the long-lost ‘link’ to the past, reach out for the first time to the explorer Sir Lionel Frost (Jackman) to help him find his find his lost relatives in the faraway valley of Shangri-La.

The 8 foot, 650-pound furry giant, Frost and others will take the journey of a lifetime, encountering various worldly perils along the way.

For those unfamiliar with LAIKA’s body of work, their past films include Coraline (2009), ParaNorman (2012), The Boxtrolls (2014) and more recently, the stunning Kubo and the Two Strings (2016).

All of the above films have been nominated for the best animated feature award at the Oscars, but have yet to cross the line and win.

It just goes to show just how loved the LAIKA films have been, and judging by the trailer for Missing Link, will continue on that path.

The film’s trailer features plenty of humour, along with the classic, gorgeous animation LAIKA’s films are known for.

Its story features a universal theme with what looks like some great writing, so it should be one all ages can enjoy.

Zoe Saldana, Timothy Olyphant, David Walliams, Emma Thompson, Matt Lucas and Stephen Fry also feature in supporting roles.

Regular LAIKA collaborator, Chris Butler directs.

Missing Link hits cinemas on 12 April 2019.
