Happy Death Day – Trailer for New Teen Slasher Film with a Twist

The trailer for the upcoming teen slasher film Happy Death Day is here, bringing with it a new variation of the well-worn genre.

Happy Death Day features typical teen-movie elements; college dorm rooms, parties, cliques of mean girls and one night stands. However the trailer takes a dark turn when protagonist Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe) is forced to relive her birthday, and her subsequent murder again and again until she can catch her killer.

Tree must uncover her killer so she can live to see a new day, so she enlists the help of Carter Davis (Israel Broussard), whose dorm she continues to wake up in after each murder, and who may be her potential love interest in the film.

Happy Death Day is a combination of a teen-slasher movie, mixed with the concept of the classic 1993 film Groundhog Day, where a weatherman known for his obnoxious nature finds himself living the same day over and over until he learns his lesson.

The trailer shows an original twist on a very well-worn movie genre; I just hope the trailer hasn’t showed the best the movie has to offer and has left some suspense for the viewers.

Check out the official trailer and let us know what you think in the comments below.

The film is directed by Christopher Landon and comes out on the 13 October 2017 (Friday the 13th – cleverly enough).
