The highly anticipated 2018 reboot of the Tomb Raider movie franchise get its first trailer, with Alicia Vikander in the lead role as Lara Croft.
The film sees Croft follow in her missing adventurer-father’s tomb-raiding footsteps, as she goes on a mission to seek out an ancient tomb on the island where he may be missing.
The film is an origin-story of sorts for the character, as we see the events that lead to Lara finding her purpose in life.
The trailer gives us a good indication of the tone we can expect from the film, as well as a look at some of the cool action sequences.
The filmmakers appear to have definitely nailed the action-adventure vibe, with several nods to the visuals featured in the video-games the film is based on.
This type of action-adventure film has been done a countless number of times before, so it will be interesting to see if Tomb Raider pushes any boundaries on that front.
The film is directed by Roar Uthaug, who recently directed the foreign disaster-film The Wave (2015) which was a great effort, but also didn’t really bring anything new to the table.
Joining Vikander in the film is Dominic West, Hannah John-Kamen, Nick Frost and Walton Goggins.
It hits cinemas on 15 March 2018.
