The second trailer for Fences sees two-time Oscar-winner Denzel Washington play a father trying to balance family-life with raising a son in 1950’s America.
Washington also directs this family-drama film that could very well be a new career-defining performance for the long-time actor, although I couldn’t help but sense a bit of overacting from him in the trailer.
Whether or not that’s the case will come down to how his performance fits into the overall context and tone of the final product.
The film also stars Viola Davis who is on a good run in Hollywood at the moment as well as newcomer Jovan Adepo who makes his feature film debut here (in good company mind you).
The film looks like it has the goods on all the dramatic fronts, with the only concern being that it might be a bit too on-the-nose, as well as the aforementioned overacting, however if Washington can find the right balance there then drama fans should be in for a treat.
Check out the second trailer below before Fences hits American cinemas on 25 December 2016.
