New Trailer for Fede Alvarez’ Thriller ‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’

Claire Foy plays the cyberhacking vigilante Lisbeth Salander in director Fede Alvarez’ new crime-thriller film The Girl in the Spider’s Web.

Salander (Foy) and journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Sverrir Gudnason) find themselves embroiled in a dangerous web of lies, spies and corruption in this new chapter of the English-language adaptation of author Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo book series.

‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’ novel was written by David Lagercrantz after the death of Larsson, and continues on the story of Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist.

The film version is a followup (though not necessarily a direct sequel) of David Fincher’s 2011 film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

That film starred Rooney Mara as the film’s protagonist with Daniel Craig as Blomkvist.

Claire Foy appears to be a great pick to take over the role of the ruthless hacker, as you’ll see in the new trailer below.

The film sees Salander take on her greatest foe yet, her sister – or, at least, that much is suggested.

The film will likely feature many twists and turns throughout, much like Fincher’s version and the preceding Swedish-language adaptations of this series that saw Noomi Rapace in the lead role.

Director Fede Alvarez is coming off the success of the outstanding thriller Don’t Breathe (2016)which was his follow up to Evil Dead (2013), his brutal re-imagining of the 1981 horror classic.

Judging by this new trailer, the film will be action-packed as well as suspenseful.

It’s a promising new trailer, and we’ll find out for certain when the film releases in theatres on 8 November 2018.
