Australian screen legend Errol Flynn’s early life gets the biopic treatment in the upcoming adventure film In Like Flynn.
Flynn’s early life reads like something straight out of a Hollywood movie that he would later go on to star in.
After discovering a trail that leads to a fortune in gold in the jungles of Papua New Guinea, Flynn and his motley crew of friends embark on an adventure to recover it.
Along the way, he’ll smuggle opium, gamble, street-fight, prospect for gold and win many a woman’s heart.
And this was his life before he played similar characters in his Hollywood career.
The film looks like a lot of fun, with a story that one must assume has taken some creative liberties.
Errol Flynn was one of the earliest Australian actors to make an impact in Hollywood.
He starred in classic films like 1935’s Captain Blood and 1938’s The Adventures of Robin Hood.
A swashbuckler on the screen and a swashbuckler in life, it seems, if the trailer for In Like Flynn is anything to go by.
Up-and-comer Thomas Cocquerel plays Flynn and is joined by Corey Large, William Mosely, Isabel Lucas, David Wenham, Dan Fogler and Clive Standen.
Russell Mulcahy, of Highlander (1986) and Highlander II (1991) fame directs.
The film is due for release on 11 October 2018.
