Dwayne Johnson Fights Terrorists and Saves His Family in ‘Skyscraper’

the rock fights

The 2nd official trailer for Skyscraper has dropped, starring Dwayne Johnson and teasing an epic throwback to classic action movies of the past, as today’s number one action hero fights terrorists and saves his family from a towering inferno.

Johnson plays Former FBI agent and war vet Will Sawyer, who now spends his days assessing security for skyscrapers.

Sawyer is forced to take matters into his own hands when a gang of terrorists take his family hostage on a new, modern skyscraper, as it steadily begins to burn to the ground.

The plot sounds like something ripped straight out of an 80’s action-film, something that could sit right beside a Die Hard (1988).

Skyscraper has all the elements to make for an entertaining piece of guilty-pleasure viewing, though it will be interesting to see if the film pushes any boundaries.

With the likes of modern day action films like The Fate of the Furious (2017) pushing action set pieces to new limits, Skyscraper seems like it has its work cut out for it.

Furthermore, this new trailer reveals a lot from the film, almost too much even, which makes me wonder what the filmmakers are keeping out of it.

Maybe there will be something mind-blowing to come in the final product.

The film is directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who directed Johnson in Central Intelligence (2016)and also has the fantastic Dodgeball (2004) to his credit.

It co-stars Neve Campbell, Pablo Schreiber, Noah Taylor, Chin Han and Roland Møller, and is due to hit cinemas on 12 July 2018.
