Darren Aronofsky returns to his dark and disturbing ways with the upcoming film Mother! Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem and Ed Harris.
The teaser for Mother! doesn’t give much away in terms of the plot, but it sets the tone for what will certainly be a masterfully crafted psychological horror-thriller movie, from the master of those types of movies.
Darren Aronofsky is an expert at making films that have you feeling uneasy and squeamish, with the likes of Pi (1998), Requiem for a Dream (2000) and Black Swan (2010).
Furthermore, in his storied 20-year career, Aronofsky has always managed to make movies his way, never succumbing to studio pressures.
This may have led to less opportunities in directing big-budget films and really making himself a household name, but for the most part, his work has been highly regarded, and he keeps a legion of devout fans.
Mother! seems to have one of the most impressive casts of his films to date, and alongside the aforementioned Lawrence, Bardem and Harris, the film also stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Domhnall Gleeson.
This is definitely one of my most anticipated films of the year, and we should be getting a full trailer for it in about a week or so from now.
The film hits cinemas on 12 October 2017.
