‘The Dark Tower’ – Official Trailer for New Stephen King Adaptation

the dark tower trailer

The hotly anticipated film The Dark Tower gets an official trailer, and it looks like this film could go either way, leaning slightly more towards bad.

The film based on the epic series of Stephen King novels has been in development for a long time now, further increasing its anticipation.

After all that time, I couldn’t help but feel a little underwhelmed after seeing the trailer.

It seems like another generic fantasy-action blockbuster based on a new-to-the-screen property, which is a shame.

I haven’t read any of King’s books in the series, so can’t comment on how it relates back to them, however I didn’t feel a sense of excitement after seeing the trailer.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing though, as going in with low expectations should help the overall experience, in a way that you won’t feel too disappointed if it does end up being crap.

The Dark Tower follows a young boy who comes into the company of The Gunslinger (Idris Elba), who is on a mission to find the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey).

The Man in Black’s mission – to destroy a tower that binds earth and this fantasy land the two lead characters reside in, in order to unleash a hell on Earth.

As a fan of other adaptations based on Stephen King properties, I’m still definitely looking forward to this – just not as much as I’d hoped to.

The film is directed by Nikolaj Arcel and is due to hit cinemas on 17 August 2017.
