The first teaser for Dario Argento’s 1977 horror classic Suspiria remake has arrived, starring Dakota Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Tilda Swinton and Mia Goth.
It seems horror remakes are here to stay, whether we like them or not.
Every once in a while, one comes along that surprises its audience with a fresh take or on the very rare occasion, improves on the original.
In 1977, Dario Argento brought Suspiria upon us; a walking nightmare of a film with outbursts of graphic violence and bright colour schemes that still resonates with moviegoers today.
So it was only a matter of time before someone brave enough would come along to try and re-imagine Argento’s classic, and judging by director Luca Guadagnino’s (coming off great success with 2017’s Call Me By Your Name) first trailer, it’s safe to say horror fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
In what appears to be a film that’s come straight out of the 70’s, Guadagnino looks to have set the scene perfectly without stepping on the original’s toes and giving his Suspiria a fresh, but creepy tone.
If the trailer for this remake is anything to go by, then this year’s Suspiria may just live up the original’s reputation in years to come.
The film is due out in cinemas on 2 November 2018.
