Mel Gibson and John Lithgow join the cast of the sequel to the 2015 comedy Daddy’s Home, playing the fathers of Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell’s characters respectively.
The trailer for the film doesn’t reveal much else, other than it will be a Christmas-themed family comedy, with the two new characters on board, and some excerpts of humour from the film.
The first Daddy’s Home film didn’t quite reach comedy-classic status like some of Will Ferrell’s other work, however it did provide plenty of laughs.
The sequel looks like it will likely end up in the same category, which is fine as long as it delivers on the laughs again.
The inclusion of Gibson and Lithgow in the role of the lead characters’ dads is also a nice touch and should make for some good comedy.
The film also stars Linda Cardellini and John Cena, and is directed by Sean Anders, who helmed the first film.
Daddy’s Home 2 hits cinemas on 23 November 2017.
