‘The Comedian’ – Trailer for New Robert De Niro Film

Check out the cool trailer for the upcoming Robert De Niro comedy film The Comedian, featuring an all-star cast that seems too good to be true.

The legendary De Niro stars as an ageing standout comedian named Jackie, as the film follows his life as he tries to renew his comedy career, with the help of the much younger Harmony, played by Leslie Mann.

The trailer sets a sentimental, yet comedic tone for the film, with De Niro and Mann having clear chemistry.

The jokes revealed in the trailer are funny; the sort of jokes you can expect from a typical standup comedian.

The most impressive thing about this film though is it’s cast; let’s run down the list:

De Niro, Leslie Mann, Danny DeVito, Patti LuPone, Billy Crystal, Edie Falco, Harvey Keitel, Charles Grodin and the iconic actress Cloris Leachman, who’s still going strong at 90 years young.

It’s an extremely impressive cast list and should be worth the price of admission alone.

The Comedian is directed by Oscar-winning director Taylor Hackford, whose past credits include Ray (2004), The Devil’s Advocate (1997), Blood In, Blood Out (1993) and An Officer and a Gentleman (1982).

The film is due out on 13 January 2017 in the USA.

The official synopsis for the film is as follows:

An aging comic icon, Jackie (Robert De Niro), has seen better days. Despite his efforts to reinvent himself and his comic genius, the audience only wants to know him as the former television character he once played. Already a strain on his younger brother (Danny DeVito) and his wife (Patti LuPone), Jackie is forced to serve out a sentence doing community service for accosting an audience member. While there, he meets Harmony (Leslie Mann), the daughter of a sleazy Florida real estate mogul (Harvey Keitel), and the two find inspiration in one another, resulting in surprising consequences.
