Chadwick Boseman jumps out of his Black Panther suit and into the shoes of an NYPD detective in the upcoming 21 Bridges.
Boseman plays a police detective with a chip on his shoulder, who closes all 21 bridges leading in and out of Manhattan to trap and hunt down a group of cop-killers.
Boseman has proven to have the goods to lead any modern mainstream film though it feels like 21 Bridges could go either way judging by the first trailer.
There’s enough in it to please fans of this particular sub-genre, however, it doesn’t appear to bring anything new to the table.
Cop movies are a dime-a-dozen in cinema so it will be interesting to see what, if anything, differentiates this one from the rest of the enormous pack.
21 Bridges co-stars J. K. Simmons, Sienna Miller, Taylor Kitsch, Stephan James, and Keith David and is directed by Brian Kirk, whose background comes mostly from television.
The film is due out in cinemas on 12 July 2019.
