Trailer for New Brian De Palma Crime-Thriller ‘Domino’

Domino, not to be confused with the 2005 action flick of the same name, is the latest from directing great Brian De Palma.

While the man responsible for classic flicks such as Scarface (1983), Carrie (1976) and Carlito’s Way (1993) hasn’t had a great track record since the 2000’s hit, there’s enough in this trailer to suggest Domino will be a decent crime thriller that hits all the right notes.

Reuniting Game Of Thrones alumni Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Carice van Houten, De Palma has assembled a cracking cast that also features personal favourite Guy Pearce and well-known Danish actor Soren Malling.

Coster-Waldau takes centre stage as Copenhagen cop Christian, hell-bent on revenge after his partner, Lars Hansen, is killed by Eriq Ebouaney’s ISIS member Imran.

The trailer spends a little too much time explaining the plot, but once established, things pick up as the menacing soundtrack builds and we see Coster-Waldau attempting to find Ebouaney via any means necessary.

There’s nothing original about the plot, but with Brian De Palma attached, there’s hope this will be better than your standard straight-to-DVD fair.

Throw in Guy Pearce as a shady CIA agent and De Palma’s knack for crafting intelligent thrillers with stunning visuals and Domino could be a return to form for the Hollywood legend.

Domino hits theatres on 31 May 2019.
