‘Blade Runner 2049’ – Announcement Trailer Released

blade runner 2049

The announcement trailer has dropped for the highly anticipated film – Blade Runner 2049, starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford.

2049 is the follow-up to the classic 1982 film Blade Runner, which was directed by Ridley Scott.

The new film is directed by Denis Villeneuve, who is one of the best working directors today, with his most recent credit being the outstanding sci-fi film Arrival (see my review here).

The announcement trailer below introduces us to the modern version blade runner, played here by Ryan Gosling.

It doesn’t reveal anything plot-wise, but it does feature some gorgeous visuals in the little we can see, which sounds about right considering it’s a film by Denis Villeneuve, who’s known for directing some stunning films.

I’ve seen 1982’s Blade Runner multiple times, and while I loved every second of it, I could never get over the film’s ending, essentially ruining the movie for me.

Nevertheless, it’s still regarded as a classic piece of cinema and I can understand why.

This announcement trailer for the sequel has got me intrigued and I can’t wait to see more footage to see what the filmmakers have in store for us on the world-building front for this film.

Blade Runner 2049 features an excellent cast that includes Ryan Gosling in the lead role, along with Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Lennie James and Barkhad Abdi.

The film hits cinemas on 6 October 2017 in the USA, check out the first trailer below.
