There’s a Lot of Awkward Tension in the Trailer for ‘Bombshell’

awkward movie characters

Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie feature in the trailer for Bombshell, based on a Fox News scandal and it’s super awkward.

The film is based on the true story of the Fox News/Roger Aisles sex scandal and sees the three leading ladies playing employees of the network.

What we get in the trailer is a very awkward, non-verbal confrontation between Kidman, Theron and Robbie in an elevator set to some ominous music.

There’s no mention of the plot in the trailer, though we can see that there’s some trouble brewing.

I don’t know too much about the scandal this film is based on and would prefer not to know so it doesn’t spoil the film, but I’ve linked it above for those in the same boat as me that do want to know.

Bombshell is directed by Jay Roach, who’s best known for his comedy work directing films like the Austin Powers (1997-02) trilogy and the Meet the Parents (2000-04) films.

Roach is no slouch in the drama department, however, recently directing the 2015 biopic Trumbo starring Bryan Cranston, which went on to get nominated for an Oscar.

There’s some epic star power in this film and combined with a scandalous story, Bombshell should be a hit for the director.

It co-stars Alice Eve, Kate McKinnon, Stephen Root, Connie Britton and Allison Janney and is due for release on 20 December 2019.
