Today brings us an awesome new poster for the upcoming Star Wars spinoff film Rogue One, and it’s what us fans have been waiting for, finally.
I say finally because the first few posters that were released, while not being too bad, were pretty underwhelming overall.
This new poster looks more like the style we’re used to with Star Wars posters of the past, in the style made popular by artist Drew Struzan.
I’m not sure who the artist here is, and although I don’t think it’s Struzan, it has definitely aimed to capture the essence of his classic posters.
The poster features Felicity Jones and the rest of the principal cast, overshadowed by Darth Vader and the Death Star, while Stormtroopers and other Imperial troops storm a beach in what will likely be a big battle sequence in the film.
There’s something special about film posters that are illustrated like this one, as they allow the designer to get creative on the composition, whereas a similarly composed poster compiled with digital photographs can often go either way.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story releases on 15 December 2016 across Australian cinemas and is directed by Gareth Edwards, director of 2014’s Godzilla.
Deserted Island Movie Collection: The films of Quentin Tarantino.
Best Movie Snack: Nachos.
