‘Assassin’s Creed’ – Trailer World Premiere

The trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed film has just premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The film based on the popular video-game of the same name stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, in their second collaboration with Australian director Justin Kurzel.

This is Kurzel’s third feature film after Snowtown and MacBeth, which were both excellent.

Assassin’s Creed marks a jump into the Hollywood mainstream for the director, so we’re hoping the film is actually good as well as a financial success which should then excel Kurzel’s career further.

Assassin’s Creed follows the story of Callum Lynch (Fassbender) as he’s plugged into the ‘Animus’ – a device that let’s him live out the memories from his ancient ancestors, whom just happened to be assassins during in the time of the Spanish Inquisition.

The trailer gives enough details about the basic plot of the film as well as a look at all the visual beauty of the world they’re creating – and of course glimpses of what’s sure to be many action sequences in the film.

One of the best things about the Assassin’s Creed game series is the beautiful sets they create for the characters to explore and it appears it has translated over spectacularly to the film based on what we’re shown in the trailer.

The film has a stellar cast which also includes Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson and Michael Kenneth Williams and is scheduled to be released 21 December 2016 in America, with local release dates to be confirmed at a later date.

IMDB synopsis:

When Callum Lynch explores the memories of his ancestor Aguilar and gains the skills of a Master Assassin, he discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society.
