Annabelle Mythology Further Explored in ‘Annabelle Comes Home’

horror doll mythology

The third film in the Annabelle spinoff series of the Conjuring films seeks to further explore the mythology of the evil doll Annabelle.

Annabelle Comes Home takes place directly after Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) take the Annabelle doll back to their home in the first Annabelle (2014) film.

Wilson and Farmiga will reprise their roles in this seventh instalment set in the Conuring universe.

We don’t know much about the film’s plot yet, however, we can see in the trailer that the Warrens’ daughter Judy (Mckenna Grace) and her friends bring the haunted doll to life again, bringing with it much of the supernatural malevolence we’ve come to expect.

The trailer offers up plenty of spooky visuals which should be a delight to the fans of the franchise.

The first Annabelle film was mostly poorly received, though its sequel Annabelle: Creation (2017) fared better, at least enough to warrant a third entry in the series.

The film will be directed by Gary Dauberman who makes his directorial debut from a story co-written by James Wan.

Wan is leading the way in the mainstream horror genre having essentially started the Conjuring universe series of films.

Check it out in cinemas from 27 June 2019.
